Youth In-house Tournament

By Robert Owens | In BJJ, Events | on August 11, 2016

13681773_945594575584522_1913487066_o (1)The N.W. HIT Center (BJJ of Olympia) is hosting an all children’s In-house tournament at our school on September 17th.  Registration is now HERE!:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/brazilian-jiu-jitsu-kids-inhouse-tournament-tickets-27082579725

The bottom line up front is: we want to offer kids the opportunity to compete at all ages and levels, in a safe and surgically ran atmosphere.

There is a small ($5 each) entry fee to this round robin style competition.   Starting at 1 PM, we will have GI and No Gi Submission only for 6 year olds and older.  Points only for under 5 .
5 min match

We understand the frustration of paying for and traveling to an event to find out that some have a “1 and done” bracket, while others have many matches. All competitors will compete multiple times!   We also know there is a lack of summer tournaments and we want to prep the kids for the Proving Grounds Tournament in October!

Please share this with your friends and respective schools! See you on the mats!

Rules:
CONCEPT: The purpose for these children’s competitions is to reinforce the fighting spirit of Jiu Jitsu, not to win a sporting match because of circumstances within a broad range of rules. These competitions will be submission driven with a sudden death period if there is no submission within the allotted time. Ensuring that we remain focused on the purpose of why we train and teaching all competitors that a submission is the goal, will inevitably foster a WARRIOR SPIRIT.

POINT SYSTEM:

ALL POSITIONS MUST BE HELD TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE REFEREE (Approximately 3 seconds)
Mount 4
Taking the back (Hooks in/body triangle) 4
Guard Pass 3
Take down-To include snap down (must clear the arms from the turtle position) 2
Knee on Belly 2
Sweeps 3

Stalling will be called after 20 sec 1 warning +1 to the opponent

*Competitors must advance to more dominant positions in order to receive additional points.
No points will be awarded to a competitor who willfully abandons a dominate position for the sake of gaining more points.
